Would being depressed cause bipolar disorder?

And does it make sense that ADD would cause loss of sleep?

I feel like **** lately. I haven't been happy, everything sucks and i get pissy for no reason at all. over stupid things
and..
i have a hard time waking up because i can't sleep. i find something more entertaining to do until 6 in the morning. no matter how hard i try to sleep.

thanks guys. what doctor should i go to? if it's my family doctor do you think my health insurance would cover the visit? and would my parents find out since it's their insurance?

Bipolar depression is a type of depression, not the result of depression.
It is a very serious type of depression that often needs heavy medication.

ADHD is attention deficit hyperactive disorder, and there is a problem with attention because of hyperactivity, hence also the resulting insomnia.

You may have depression, or maybe going through a bad time. Any result anxiety may lead to insomnia.
See if you can think clearly and rationally to resolve the problem, and if it gets too severe, then consider the possibility that you need to be medically investigated for depression.

CREED

in my opinion, if you haven't been dx'd with bipolar, you most likely don't have it....you simply have ADD, some depression and a whole lotta lack of sleep....which can cause one's emotions to get out of whack - especially when it comes to anger....

it definitely makes sense that ADD can cause loss of sleep - many people with the disorder also have a circadian rhythm disorder - in which you feel more awake at night, and very sleepy during the day, regardless of how much sleep you get....

the one thing that many doctors recommend is taking the natural supplement melatonin - between 1.5 and 3mgs about an hour before bed...it helps make you tired when you should be and awake when you should be - naturally.

For the record, nothing "causes" bipolar disorder - it's a genetic condition that you're born with (though it doesn't show itself right away).

It is going to depend on your insurance whether or not mental health is covered, though I'm guessing the visit (not necessarily medication) with your family doctor would be covered. However, I have seen all too many family practitioners who know virtually nothing about mental health and pretend they do. If possible, you should look into seeing a psychiatrist.
Your parents will see the visit on their insurance statement or bill. Are you unable to talk with them about this? I would encourage you to if you can - having the support of friends and family is very helpful when dealing with depression and the like.

Your parents are going to have to know eventually, especially if you're prescribed medication. For now, just tell them that you don't feel very well lately and would like to see your doctor. Ask your doctor for his opinion on your symptoms, and he'll either make a diagnosis or refer you to someone who can help.
Your insurance will cover the visit with your family doctor, but it might not cover a specialist.

Being depressed is part of bipolar, not the cause.

I think you should get a physical from a doctor, and medication and counseling too if needed. You can't get a diagnosis from people on the computer.

If you need medication, take it. Bipolar is nothing to mess with.

depression doesn't cause bipolar disorder; they are two separate, distinct conditions.

maybe ADD could cause loss of sleep, especially if you're on some medication.

i'm sorry, i hope you feel better. maybe you should see a doctor or a therapist, it might help.

I've tried family doctors. They require you get a Diagnosis from a Health pro e.g Psychologist) before they'll per scribe any sort of prozac or drugs. I'm on my way to some Gay little Christian therapy thing. Sounds like Bullshit to me. Gl with yourself though

Being depressed won't cause bipolar disorder. However, depression is part of bipolar disorder so you may be depressed half of the time (more or less depending).

a.d.d. can cause sleeplessness.but no depression and bi polar are two different animals.they look alike but arent
