For people with bipolar: Would you have brain surgery to cure your disorder? |
If there was a brain surgery to cure bipolar disorder, would you do it? Wikipedia says: "Data from the United States on lifetime prevalence vary but indicate a rate of around 1 percent for Bipolar I, 0.5 to 1 percent for Bipolar II or cyclothymia, and between 2 and 5 percent for subthreshold cases meeting some but not all criteria. The onset of full symptoms generally occurs in late adolescence or young adulthood. Diagnosis is based on the person's self-reported experiences, as well as observed behavior." It says it right there that this disorder and the diagnosis for bipolar is based solely on "self-reported experience". So the patient who is flipping out alot is actually diagnosing themselves in a way because no science or study of the brain chemicals can identify a bipolar disorder. Patients are basically throwing themselves into that .5 to 1% of people in the world. It helps someone who is just angry and sad to say "Oh, that's my problem: I am in the 1% minority of bipolar people and thats why I'm so angry and sad and don't fit in to regular society." Well I and many or most of the friends I made in my life are angry, sad, often defeated, happy when drunk or high, etc... I think many people are self-diagnosing themselves and then they get preyed upon by the authors of books on the subject, doctors who like prescribing drugs instea of talking to a patient, and insurance companies who take advantage of bipolar people seeking pricy help. Did you know that most pyschiatric drugs commonly prescribed can leave brain damage and ALL of the antidepressants must be monitored usually resulting in the slow increase of the miligrams of doses. Humans become immune to chemicals very quickly and the bipolar people on meds usually have to raise their dosage and take more crap. My friend takes three of this certain type of pill per day and if I was to take one of them I would be sedated and fried for a few days. think about it. We know that th medical system is corrupt as a cat selling cheese to a mouse, so why would it be any different for the way they treat and profit off bipolar people? It is not a traceable disorder like cancer, cerebral paulsy, AIDS, etc... I say put down the meds and just rough it out instead of getting hooked on meds and damaging other organs that have to process un-natural mind altering drugs. Surgery is a scam in America because it's rarely covered properly by insurance companies nowadays and most surgery that IS necessary is a no-choice thing, that usually saves your life in an emergency. Not a self-diagnosed choice by the patient that may just have had a crappy childhood or dramatic experience. "Sometimes the best thing that can happen to a young man is to be thrown overboard and compelled to sink or swim." -Famous quote(forgot who) WOooOF!! I would definitely have the surgery, as long as it didn't I would never want to cure this blessing that is Bi-polar disorder. I hate it so much. Sometimes I just wish I was more normal. I hate all the other people, they just don't understand. My bi-polarity completes me and I don't know what I'd do without it. no - because I do not believe in bipolar disorder. I don't have bipolar, but if I did, I would. If there was and it didnt affect memory or who I was then yes I would consider it, I would prefer this to the alternative therapy of electro shock therapy. no. I dont think i would haha. im used to being bipolar and im scared of surgery! yes I would I hate bi polar |
