Bipolar Disorder !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1?

Okay so my daughter is 18 and has a boyfriend today they saw eachother for the first time in a week [they are used to living together but can't now due to personal problems] she lived with him for a yr and a half and he left today with OUT saying goodbye or anything... And she went Nuts screaming crying stomping around, yanking her hair, ripping up pictures.. I know its not normal, but she hasn't seen him for a week. The doctors says she has Bipolar but the medicines don't seem to be working.. [she's also been in The Hospital 4 times for trying to kill her self] About once every Six Months she's like that. What's Wrong Anything i can do to help

Check with her doc about the meds. They may need to be changed or adjusted. They probably need to know when she goes through a major change. Get other info, too. Have they shared any info with you?
Is she going to a bipolar support group? Or therapy? Or just the meds? It's not all about the meds. Most meds work best when therapy and groups are a part of it, too. Part of learning to deal with any illness is learning ways to cope with it.
For you, too. I know it's scary. Look for support groups and/or ask her doc or the hospital about support groups for family/friends of those with bipolar or other disorders. Getting together and sharing with others going through the same thing....or who have been through it already...can be of great help to you, in knowing what's going on and finding ways to deal with it, questions to ask, etc. Not feeling so alone with it.
Good luck.
(Then again, when I was somewhere around 18, I cried, tore up pictures and yelled after a break up. But let's not go there ;-)

Find a new doc and a a new medicine that does help. In the meantime, give her sympathy - not judgement. She may be not acting rationally, but its HER rational, and that's what she has to deal with. Comfort her, hold her...tell her you understand. But do find a doctor who specializes.

just stay close. make sure she takes her pills. sometimes the medication is expensive, you can try to help that way. it's one reason why I end up not taking mine. the F'n money part of it.

bipolar is misdiagnose alot most times actually.

bipolar is something you're born with
