| *Women health>>>Bipolar Disorder |
I have mood disorder-bipolar disorder and i have break downs sometimes,and i applied for ssi,well i got denied |
should i reapply??? yes you should. most people get turned down several times before they get accepted. i have a cousin who applied 5 times before she was accepted. keep applying, they are just trying to discourage you. Does your disorder inhibit you from functioning every day in society? If so, then reapply if you are denied. You can't help the hand you've been dealt. I also have bi-polar with manic episodes.Yes you probably will get turned down the first couple of times you apply, but don't give up. Find a good attorney. Most attorneys will only get paid if you win your case. Good luck---and just keep trying Personal experiance Maybe it takes awhile to build a perfect society-here I am expecting it to be perfect now With your diagnosis, you qualify for disability benefits; if it prevents you from working. What I would suggest is that you talk with an attorney who specializes in disability (SSI/SSA) cases. They can help you file an appeal. I have seen this as the most successful route for many folks with mental health related disabilities. Yes, the attorney will take a contingency fee out of your final award. Reasonable fees are in the 20-30% range. What is beneficial, is that if you win your appeal, you are paid from the original date you applied. If you lose, the attorney gets nothing. 70-80% of something is better than 100% of nothing. Good luck! Listen up, this happened to me too. I have bipolar disorder and PTSD. I applied for SSDI (not SSI... when you reapply, go for SSDI). Anyway, I was denied FIVE time, but I kept appealing after every denial. If you appeal enough times, you'll get a hearing in front of a judge magistrate, where you can present your case and your evidence. I finally got a hearing, which came out in my favor (I didn't have a lawyer, or a neck brace, or props, or nothing...) I just told my story to the judge, and he had the final decision. It took a while, but I got my SSDI, along with a HUGE retroactive check. But whatever you do, REAPPLY! and if you get denied again, REAPPLY again... and again... and again... until you get a hearing. The mistake that a lot of people make is to give up after being denied even once. Being loud and vocal (and persistent) will yield results. Good luck and keep me posted. |
