Will birth control pills help?

I'm very irregular, my spotting started May last year up to July (it come and go) then regular period then when January came for a month or so I have no period then this March to april I have a light period and spotting. I'll see a doctor on the end of this month. I never taken any pills before my co-workers suggested over the counter birth control pills to regulate period. By the way I'm 32 going 33 this coming May. I never had children, I'm single the last time I had sex was last July or something.

Absolutely. They moderate your cycle, making it much more predictable and tolerable as well as shortening not only symptoms but duration of your period.

Birth control pills can help regulate your period- so can the Nuva Ring. I don't know anything about over the counter birth control though. And I wouldn't trust it. It is prescribed by a doctor for a reason- there are very real side effects associated with birth control and your doctor is aware of these and can monitor you accordingly.

Birth control pills definitely help to regulate your period. However, as far as I know, there are no over the counter birth control pills and that sounds fairly sketchy anyway.

You should definitely talk to your doctor about what pill/hormone levels are right for your situation. The NuvaRing is another hormonal birth control method but you don't need to take a pill everyday.

yes!! i have very long heavy periods with cramping, horrible, and i started taking birth control and now i have little to none cramping and periods that last 3 days and very light! so i really suggest to take them!!!!

I'm on the pill mainly for my acne but it has regulated my period also, after the first month of being on them, my period was the same time of every month. So I definitly think that it would help you.

Yes they will help ,they regulated my period and made them much shorted and lighter in just 2 months!!
