Can birth control pills mess with your emotions?

I went from being very happy all day and than to extremely mad and all in tears when I got home. This is not the only time I have had really changes of emotions while being on the pill.

ABSOLUTELY!

One of my ex-girlfriends was effected so greatly by the pill that she could hardly function....

She switched to some kind of shot given every three months and the problem totally went away....she then got rid of the prozac and clonipin (spelling?) other doctors were giving her to fix the problem. Turned out all her issues were related to the use of the pill.
She became much funner to be with...so much infact that she found me a bore and left me for another.

the hormones may give you mood swings, yes

Yes, they can . But the good news is they have other types that are different strengths. Call your doctor and let him or her know asap. . They can change it for you because it can make you very depressed and bitchy.

yes they can affect your emotions. That is why before your Doctor prescribed them he or she was suppose to evaluate your mental health history. If you are prone to depression it will intensify with the use of birth control be it the pill or depo-injection. I was an emotional wreck when i was on the depo shot. It made me cry and totally unstable. if this continues you really need to speak with your doctor.

YES

well i wont mess with this question....i just hope you feel better soon sweetie.....look after your self.....who loves ya......seamanab x

I've noticed random changes in my mood as well. I am on Mircette BC right now. The mood swings aren't unmanageable, and they happened mostly during the first month on Mircette. I don't really want to change pills because I haven't had any other side effects...

In short, YES...I know what you mean! I would burst into tears for no reason at all during the first month...and who knows, it could happen again...my doctor said that some months on BC are different than others, even if you've been on the pill for years.

I would either wait it out and see if your symptoms get better, or go ahead and ask your doctor if you can switch pills. There may be something better out there for your body.

Hope this helps! Good luck :)
