Birth control pills increase fertility?

I would like to get pregnant sometime this year.I have very irregular period and when I do have it,its brownish and spotting. I heard that birth control pills,getting off of it, you have a high chance of getting prego.

My doctor also suggested I take birth control pills to help regulate my period.have anyone taken birth control pills for same reasons and was it effective? What brand is recommended with least weight gain?thanks

The purpose of birth control is to prevent pregnancy. It takes some women 3 months off of it before cycles return to normal. BC is very effective at regulating cycles while you are on it. I was on the NuvaRing and I had no problems w/ weight gain. I have not heard that you are more fertile just off bc, actually quite the opposite is my personal experience. There are several other medications that your doctor can give you to cause ovulation. The first thing that needs to be determined is why you are not having regular periods. There may be a hormone imbalance and you may not be ovulating. You could have a thyroid issue. Please share your baby wishes and concerns w/ your doctor so that the two of you can begin resolving the issues in the way of ttc. I also recommend charting your cycles. well if you are on birthcontrol for like six months it does regular things out than you can like plan better you can also buy the ovalation kits and thoes might help
