Desogen birth control pills- Can i skip my green (placebo) pills? And how?

I researched desogen and I read that some women skip the green pills for the fourth week, so they wouldn't have a period. If it is possible is it safe? And how should I do it exactly?

When you say skip them do you mean I go pill less for a week? Or do I continue a new pack right after my third week is completed?

It should be safe... but ask your doctor first! And just skip them and continue to go onto your new set of pills!

Yeah its true you can prevent having a period by skipping to a new pack of pills immediately following your last active pill therefore not taking the green pills. However try to do it only for special occasions. You do have a cycle for a reason :)

I take it and I usually just skip the 'fake' pills, you just have make sure you start taking a new pack the next sunday, the placebos are just sugar pills.

i have been on desogen and doing this for about the last 4 yrs.i skip the green &start a new pack right away. my gyn.told me its safe but i had to allow my period to come like 5 Xs a yr. honestly i only allow it come (by taking the green ones of course) once MAYBE 2xs in a year. if you skip the green pills for a few months, then when you do take them again just know that it may take alittle while for you to get your period and it might even be really light & may be very brief. thats my experience. one last thing, they say it is important that a woman allows her body to clean itself out, i dont recommend doing what i do ,allowing it only 1 or 2xs a yr. ive been doing it for quite some time now &, my body seems to be ok W/ it, however some woman may not, like ones who get it very heavy. i dont know, thats just my thoughts. i use to get such severe pms it was horrible oh & the headaches i got b-4 it were undesribable! but i always had light periods. yes, theres those of us who do this, but i strongly recomend talking to your ob/gyn before you do. GOD BLESS!

I've been told by countless gyno's and womens magazines that its perfectly safe to skip the placebo's to avoid having your period.
There are no reasons why women need to have a period if they are on the pill.
