What is the best birth control method? is the pills better than the shot?

what is the best birth control method? is the pills better than the shot?

the pill - tried and true :P
I was on the shot for a year or so, I didn't have periods on it (woohoo!!) and then one day, I got my period.. and it didn't stop for like a month! (AHHH!!!) and apparently that's completely normal for the shot..
then I went on the patch.. it was new then, and did something funky to my liver, so I stopped taking it after 2 years..

the pill is really the best one, it's been used for so long that they know all of the risks involved.. I don't really trust anything else, especially if it's new.. they don't really know what it might do to you until 20 years later when it's too late..

sorry i meant Thanks Miss S Report Abuse

if you get on the right dose of the pill, it can be wonderful for you. but if you have the wrong dose, it can make you sick as all hell.

the shot is easier because you don't have to remember to take a pill at the same time everyday, but it can be costly and the hormones charge through your body once every 3 months which can cause havoc.

I'd recommend the pill as a starter. talk to your doctor about recommendations that suit your body's individual needs.

yikes! Stay away from IUDs and the depo shot is a bad idea too... they both prevent a lining from forming on the uterus, thus preventing implantation but not fertilization where the pill's primary function is to prevent ovulation and thus fertilization... IUDs are particularly scary as are the patch implant because there have been lots of studies that show the long term negative effects.

Depends on you and your body. I could never remember to take a pill at the same time every day. I vouched for Depo... and after the first two I said forget that, I had my period and spotted EVERYDAY for 6 months.

My friend got the implant in her arm and ended up having a similar problem only her daily spotting was very minimal (a years worth).

Talk it over with your doctor about all the risks and benefits. Remember it takes time for your body to get used to birth control.

i personally am on the pill, which i like a lot because say i miss a pill, all that will happen is i just go on my period. A lot of people that i have known that got the shot hated it just because it makes you spot and have your period for a long period of time. For example a friend of mine was spotting her period ALL summer long.

well to b honest neither of them is really good...

i mean with the shot if u r on it over so many years then it starts to mess your bones up

and with the pills if u dont remember to take it everyday at the same exact time then u could slip up and become pregnant just like that...

i mean there also is the thing that goes in ur arm just under the skin and it last for either 3 to 5 years... i think that might b the best

The pill is waaaay better than the shot. Its easier to get and if you have a bad reaction to a pill you just stop taking it and switch over. The shot stays in your for at least a month... so theres nothing you can really do if you have a bad reaction. Plus, the pill is more effective.

I've only ever taken the pill form of BC. My sister was on the shot and got pregnant twice.. and I was on the pill for 7 yrs and never got pregnant while on it..Once this pregnancy is over ( I am now 5 weeks) I will get back on the pill..

The shot will most likely make you gain weight, where the pill has a much lower risk of that. Other than that. .. one is just as effective as the other.

You have to figure out what works best for you. I used neither and opted for the Nuvaring which was fantastic for me. But it depends on each woman.

really depends on you if you can take the pills with out forgeting to but they are both really good, shot is once every 3 months but some people have different reactions to bc methods

I've heard IUDs (intrauterine devices) are better than the pill; less side effects.

Abstinance!!! Other than that the pill... i learned that in health haha

do not get the shot it will totally screw you up!
