What happens if I miss one birth control pill? |
I never miss a pill but yesterday I had been out all day since 4 am, so I missed a dose and remembered it today. Should I take both (yesterday and today) or should I skip yesterday and just take today? Or should I go to fill next months script? It's my second week, white pills- Lutera. If you're within 12 hours of the regular time that you take them, you'll still be covered. If not, take yesterdays now, and todays at the normal time you would. Considering you're in your second week just continue taking them normally, however you'll not be covered for the nect 7 days. It depends how close you are to taking today's pill. If it is within I would think 8 hours or so, skip yesterdays and just take todays and keep taking the rest of this month's like normal. If you are more than 8 hours away from taking today's pill, take yesterdays and then take todays at the regularly scheduled time. No need to fill next month's script. if you just miss one lutera "active" pill then you can take two the next day and continue one. if it is an "inactive" or placebo pill it doesn't matter. if you miss more than one i would go to the website and look at what week you are in and what to do some pills vary so read the instruction leaflet - i dont want to give you wrong advice!! but it happened to me before and i was told to take the pill i missed as soon as possible and continue as normal...but no sex for 8 days as theres a chance of pregnancy take the one you missed as soon as you remember and if you dont remember until the next day then take them both at the same time. nothing bad will happen but you should be careful for a few weeks because the pill may not be quite as effective for contraception Yes you should take both doses and use additional birth control until the end of this cycle (i.e a condom). Then start your next bunch like normal after your period. |
