How long should my girlfriend take the birth control pill before having unprotected sex?

The doctor said to take it for a week before having unprotected sex but i am finding on this website you have to take it for a month. Which is it?

Being on the birth control is a good thing BUT you shoudl still have protected sex no matter what, because although the birth control pill works to stop kids it doesnt stop infections or STD's yo should do a test to check for any traces if you knwo its just you two having sex if not yuo should always use a condom until you knwo for sure,

for yuor original question she needs to take it after the period has come to stop the next egg coming so this could be anytime during her cycle a week fo the pill puts it in focus but i would stay safe with a month or use a condom.

Depends when on her cycle she started taking the active pills. If she took an active pill on the first day of her period, it's normally only a week. Any other time of the month she should wait at least 14-28 days. The doctor probably is right and knew where she was on her cycle. Though some people recommend waiting a month for best protection. Check the pill info packet too, that will tell you.

my doctor told me a month so i can finish the first cycle of pills but i waited 2 months because it was the first time i had ever taken them ..and i wanted to make sure my body got used to the pills.. and lets be honest when you first start on the birth pill you kind of forget somedays to take it. so if she just started taking the pill i say 2 months so she gets used to it ..

I have used birth control pill a couple of times and each time it was one month but it has been a long time since I used them and I am sure they have been improvments with some pills but to be safe, I would wait a month.

Depends on the pill. One month sounds safe, in the meantime, go nuts with buying fun-type of condoms like a vibrating ring one or one with dots and stripes for her pleasure or one that is super thin or lubed. :-)

My advice is to use a condom anyways. I'm on the pill, but I still make my boyfriend use one. It's my safety net. That is how much I hate children, LOL.

To be on the safe side I would go at least a month. But your best bet is not to have unprotected sex.

I'd go with a month to be on the safe side. Use a rubber until then.

month man, better safe than sorry,
also even when you know she is on the pill pull out

Its a month

One month fersure.

unless you want an accident child.

at least a week that what i've did

at least a month..to be safe

Never have unprotected sex unless you want a baby.... my first kid was born on the pill.
