Whats the best birth control other than condoms, birth control pill and abstinence?

I cannot take the pill, and I have been with my BF for years so we don't want to use condoms. I am looking at other options. Any suggestions?

I just made it clear I was looking for options OTHER than abstinence!

I would not suggest depo provera, I recently found out that long term use of this form of contraception can cause fertility issues later on.

Implanon can be a good option, it is an implant which is placed under the skin in your upper arm. It will remain there for three years, so you don't need to make continuous appointments with your GP or worry about getting prescriptions etc.

I would speak with your doctor for more information.

1) Rhythm Method under the control of Basal Temperature -
can be tedious especially in the context of variable
menstrual cycles. I'm talking about taking your temperature
every morning before getting up using a rectal thermometer,
plotting it on a graph and looking for a certain pattern of increase in temperature. It requires self control but not quite
as much as abstinence. See pages 69 and 70 of J.G.H. Holt's book entitled ' Marriage and Periodic Abstinence - on second thoughts read the book.
Interestingly, this method of contraception can also serve as a
means to achieve pregnancy by highlighting the time of ovulation and hence the most fertile time.

2) There is also a related method known as ' The Ovulation
Method ' which depends on feelings and symtoms and is claimed to be successful. I feel it is a bit subjective and does not have the scientific appeal of 2). It could of course be used in parallel with 2) and you would learn a lot.
See ' The Ovulation Method ' of Natural Family Planning by
Dr J.J.Billings of Melbourne, Australia.

P.S. There now Abstinence is gone.

why does you being with your boyfriend for years mean you don't want to use condoms...?

You can get many things, such as little injections in your arms, getting a coil fitted etc.

Go to your doctors to talk with him about your options. Though condoms really would be the easiest.

IUD(aka the coil)
de prova shots (maybe not suitable if you can't take the pill)
the mini pill
dutch cap (like the condom but goes over your cervix.

For irreversible option try sterilisation.

The coil may be a good option of you and is reversible.

I have implants ... put them in and forget them... You can get a shot that works for several months... Or you can use an IUD or diaphram. I wouldn't use jellies, they don't work and are messy... Talk with your doctor....

ABSTINENCE
nothing else is 100% sure

Abstinence is 100%. You could just try oral if you want to fool around without get pregnant.
