Will taking birth control pills harm my baby? |
My period is late and there is a small chance i could be pregnant. I have stopped taking my birth control pill now just until I know for sure either way. I only stopped taking it a few days ago so if I am pregnant, could I have harmed my baby by taking it? I got pregnant with my first child while I was on the pill. I took it EVERY DAY at the same time, and had been taking it for 4 years. I had what I thought were periods, kind of light flow and only a day or so. I'm usually very heavy flow and last up to a week. (TMI, I know!) Anyways, I kept taking the pill because I had no idea that I was pregnant. After weeks of being sick, tired, and not knowing what was going on, I went to the doctor and she gave me a pregnancy test and it was very positive. I told her that I was on the pill, and was worried about the baby, but he was perfectly healthy and is now a happy 10 year old! I know that it can potentially cause harm, but my doc said that it was making my pregnancy symptoms more intense and that's why I was so sick. Good luck and I hope this helps! They say to stop taking it when you realize you could be pregnant however taking it in the first couple weeks before you knew wont affect the fetus because it's smaller then you're pinky fingernail... Also drinking and other things before you know you're pregnant shouldn't harm the baby... You should be fine... I was on the pill when I got pregnant and I freaked out and my doctor told me no worries. possible yes doctors say if you suspect being pregnant discontinue use of birth control to prevent any harmful side effects so I say get a pregnancy test or go to the doctor just to be sure |
