How long does it take for a birth control pill like Diannet to be effective?

i have started taking Diannet recently just 4 days ago from the 5th day of my period
i had sex with my bf today and im worried now

I would be worried too.

Your body needs time to adjust to the hormones in the pill. They usually recommend that you use a back-up method of contraception for AT LEAST the first 2 weeks you are on the pill...but others say you need a full month of the pill before you can actually rely on it. I'm very surprised that your doctor didn't say something about this to you.

I think it's probably a good idea for you to call your doctor or read the information on the stuff that came with your pill for more information about what you should be doing now. (Like if you need to get the morning after pill.)

I actually just talked to my doctor about this because I was worried too. She told me as long as you take it at the same like, MINUTE (ballpark. Like if you take it at 4:00, take it at 4:00 the next day. 4:05 is OK. 5:00 is not.) every day it will keep you from ovulating, thus making it totally impossible to get preggers. Don't worry.

The combined pill only becomes a 'safe' contraceptive after 7 days of using it. I'd take the morning after pill, just to be sure.

I've heard that it usually takes about a month for it to get going.
