I'm starting birth control pills for the 1st time? |
I'm going to the doctor tomorrow, but just so I know now, is it true that you have to start the pill on the 1st day of your period? Because, I want to start having sex soon, and I don't want to wait for my next period (it could be a while, because my cycle is completely messed up--I have PCOS and I miss my periods quite a bit) You don't have to start on the 1st day of your period its just easier because it wont mess up your cycle so much. i'm looking for much the same answer - i've heard that you have immediate protection from the first pill, that you have protection after the first week, and that you dont have protection until after the first month. the doctor will probably be able to tell you for sure, but the most common answer i've read in my online research is that one week is usually about how long it takes. Depends what brand you take, but that is the most common way to take them. |
