Using Friends Birth Control Pills?

Ok so i will be taking the 28 pack of birth control starting my next period. But only problem is i dont know if i should take them because my friend asked her doctor for them. So technically they are not designed for me. or does it matter?

Everyones answer makes me think thank you! & im not going to take hers!

it shouldn't matter that much if it's regular birth control but if you can go to the doctor and get your own then it would be best because your doctor knows whats best for you. If you can't go but do need birth control then sure take your friend's but know that there are side effects to some birth controls.

It really is not safe to take anyone else's medicine that was not prescribed for you. There are many different scenarios that only a physician knows about when to start taking the pill. Some people start on the first sunday after their period but some start at other times during the month, hence the reason to see a physician. Birth control pills are not like advil where you can just take it whenever you like. You really should see a physician before taking any prescription pill. Especially with hormones like birth control pills. There could be many side effects that you or your friend do not know about. Did your friend ask her doctor for them for you? If that's the case, you can go see a physician at planned parenthood for your own prescription or see your own doctor. I am pretty sure that it will be confidential either way. At least at planned parenthood, you can usually get birth control packs at a discount price or even free.

Good luck!

you should never take your friends birth control pills (or any medication that wasnt prescribed to you by a doctor or a licensed person) there are alot of different strengh combinations in birth control pills and the doctor prescribed it for your friend, but it most likely is not the correct dosage for you to take. You could have reactions, or get some side effects if the dosage is too high for you. The easiest thing to do is just go to see the doctor, get a pap test and the doctor will determine what dosage you should be on. Until then just use condoms and you'll be the safest!

Of course it matters! And why are you taking the pill for the next 28 days? if you think you need to be on the pill, PLEASE go see a gynecologist.... And if you think about having sex, PLEASE use a condom :)

The pill is like any other medecine, not eveyone can take the same.

some are designed for a specific person...and other meds can cause serious problems. most are generic and the same for all...but if its not or its got a change for your friend...its not worth the chance. free clinics will give you an exam and birth control if you need it...

Well technically most birthcontrols have the same things in it. But your friend's doctor might have perscribed that particular one to help your friend with, say acne (as some birthcontrol helps that) You should ask your own doctor for them.

You absolutely should not take anyone elses medication, including birth control, ever.

You need to get your own, based on your exam and your needs.

Good luck
