Why is an estrogen/progesterone birth control pill more effective?

Here is the sample question for my bio class

Some birth control pills that are used by women have a combination of progesterone and estrogen. The estrogen in these formulations makes them relatively more effective than birth control pills that have progesterone alone. The estrogen in these 鈥渃ombination鈥?pills makes them particularly effective because it
a. interferes with inhibin production and/or release
b. interferes with follicle maturation
c. interferes with luteinizing hormone production and/or release

Can anyone help me? I'd really appreciate it...i'm studying for my bio test on wednesday and need to get a good grade :)

Estrogen acts as a negative feed-back mechanism to reduce the circulating levels of FSH and LH. The most appropriate answer would be D.

I meant 'C' not 'D' Report Abuse
