Why am i bleeding early while still taking active birth control pills?

I have been on the pill for about 3 yrs or so and i still have 5 active pills left. This is the 1st time that this happened n im taking the pills regularly. I have just started taking some headache medication but nothing like antibiotics. N this is not like a regular period its darker and i have also experience some pain. Pls help i dont want to go to the doctor if its not something serious.
