Does Marvelon (birth control pill) CAUSE acne?

I just started taking Marvelon, after being off The Pill for about three years. I've been taking it for only about a week, but the skin on my chest has REALLY broken out badly in the past five days. The skin on my face is problem-free. I haven't switched detergents or cleansers, my bedding is definitely clean, I'm not sweating excessively or wearing artificial fibres, and I'm not under more stress than usual, so I can't figure out what's caused this breakout! There are lots of small whiteheads and some big red bumps as well. It's so bad that I'm not able to wear a lot of my normal shirts!

My doctor told me that BC would help clear up my skin. When I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen before my skin did clear up, but I gained weight too and had bad cramps (that's why I switched brands). Could Marvelon be causing this chest acne? How long should I wait it out before I go back to the doctor (it's only been about ten days so far)?

I've been on Marvelon for about 7 years and it's never caused that kind of problem for me - but everyone is different, so that doesn't mean that it isn't causing your problem.
Try cleansing and exfoliating the problem area once a day and see if it gets better.
Each kind of BC pill affects people differently, so wait a full cycle and see if it continues or if it happens again at the start of next month's package of pills.
Then, if it's really bothering you - go back to your doctor and see if there is something that will work better for you.

Good Luck!
