Does the"morning after" birth control pill pose hazards to the eomen who use it? Here are some of the side effects: nausea vomiting infertility breast tenderness ectopic pregnancy (can be life threatening) blood clot formation check out this website: http://www.morningafterpill.org/mapinfo1... and http://www.plannedparenthood.org/birth-c... of course. it is the addition of a large amount of hormones into a woman's body. there are risks to any medication. use a condom. Minor hazards sure. It's a large dose of hormones and it will have it's effects. Nausea is common. I'm sure it has some effects. Make sure you ask lots of questions if you need to use it and are aware of the risks. If you don't have an immediate need for it, then make sure you are using some sort of protection, but remember that nothing short of sterilization is foolproof! Be careful, unwanted pregnancies are not fun. Good luck! Every medication that exists has some risks of complications. Those with the "morning after" pill are usually quite minor, like nausea, and the risks of complications from pregnancy is unquestionably much higher. Emergency contraception has been tested and approved as safe for sale over the counter without prescription. The morning after pill is basically a high dose progesterone (hormone) pill. Using it occasionally as a backup method for when a condom breaks, messed up on taking oral contraceptives, etc should not be hazardous to normal healthy women. Of course you may still have side effects like with any type of birth control, most commonly nausea, spotting, and breast tenderness. It's about 70% effective in preventing pregnancy. Yes. Women have died from using it. Documented cases, not hear-say. It makes you bleed alot more and can also mess with your regular cycle. It's just not a good form of birth control, and not actually that good for "emergencies," either. There are cases where the pills don't do what they were intended to, but the baby is born with major abnormalities. Use a condom, use regular bcp's, or just wait until you are married to have sex. It's sweeter that way anyway. I know I'll get some "thumbs down" for that comment, but that's okay......it's true. |
