Does anybody take a birth control pill, that allows them to have fewer periods, and is it safe for a 17 yr old I do. I love it. I have 4 periods a year. It's just as safe for a 17 year old as it is for a 26 year old. It's especially good if you suffer from really heavy periods and cramps, or endometriosis. When I do get around to having a period, it's so light that I just need a panty liner for three days - not even enough to fill a tampon. Talk to your doctor about it, they'll find the one that is right for you. You might have to try a few brands before you find one that suits your body - and you need to try each one for at least 3 months, though 6 is better. So you might spend the next year and a half finding a good one. It can be a bit of a hassle, but once you have found the right one, it's great! I think there are some pills out there, not the one i'm on, but try the depo shot. I have heard that you don't have periods w/ that or @ least fewer, and I have seen many teenagers on it I worry about that pill because even on the pill there is a small chance you can get pregnant. The problem with missing a period is that you could be pregnant and not know it. I think it's a great idea for someone who is not sexually active. Then you have nothing to worry about. mom of 3 it's not good for you, at your age it can stop you from having kids one day or it will take you sometime to get pregnant No, many women do this just because they do not like the inconvienience. Skipping periods for say your wedding or honeymoon on the odd occasion is alright but doing it constantly might not be. There has not been enough long term studies to show whether or not this could have negative effects. Definitely dont start doing it at 17. There is a type of bc pill that allows you to have four periods a year, but at 16-17 years old your cycle is regulating and it may cause it to never be regular if you start trying to trick it early on. Its up to you but you may want to go to see your gynocologist and ask. |
