For OBGYNS or MDS: Low Dose Birth Control Pill?

Is there a birth control pill with less than 25mcg estrogen? I've been on Ortho-TryCyclene-LO for 6 yrs & still have side effects like extreme edema (water retention) & recurring yeast infections (they have all the symptoms but arent actually YI, they happen at the same time in every pack, so I know its horomone related, heavy spotting 4 days before the sunday (i'm a sunday start)- so my period lasts almost 2 weeks but is very light instead of 3-5 days of normal flow like its supposed to. I was prescribed the pill to treat & prevent the ovarian cysts I had when i was 18 which caused ER visits for the pain (I passed out) -so you can see how I am afraid to switch, but is there anything worth switching to??!! THANKS SO MUCH!

Consider changing from a tri-phasic to a mono-phasic pill. The tri-phasics are constantly changing your hormone levels and therefore can cause many more side effects than a mono-phasic pill.

Talk to your doctor about YAZ or Yasmin LoEstrin 24 or LoEstrin 1.5/30, or some other pill formulations...even the mini-pill which is estrogen-free.

If you've been using the same pill for 6 years with side effects that were documented your doctor should have changed you sooner.
maybe go to your ob-gyn. they know about your health down there better than doctors online would. they know about your medical history really well too. so maybe schedule an appt with them
