Is it difficult to lose weight while on the birth control pill (ortho tricyclen)?

Since I have been married, I have been on the birth control pill (about a year) and have gained about 2 or 3 pants sizes. I don't know if the weight gain is necessarily due to the pill and/or marriage or combination, but I am concerned the weight is harder to lose b/c I'm on the pill.

I gained about 5 pounds with birth control and also had other side affects. I cant stand those things.
The weight was very hard to take off but it can be done, work out, eat low sodium. No sodas. Drink lots of water.
ive been on ortho lo for the past few years. the past 6 months I"ve been able to go down 2 sizes just by quiting soda n drinking only water, and cutting back a little on portions, n taking calcium. Everyone's body chemistry is different though, some people do have weight trouble with the pill some don't.
i am currently on ortho tricyclen low and have been having no problem losing weight.
