For a woman in her 40's is taking the birth control pill in order to avoid the monthly cycle a safe, good idea? |
It would be such a boon not to have to deal with the migraines which accompany my cycle. I've answered your other question...In conclusion, it is possible to skip your cycle with birth control pills, and seems safe and it's even being recommended by some doctors...however, you do have to consult it with your doctor to make sure that this is something that's safe for you to do, specially being a woman over 40. birth control pills don't stop a woman's monthly cycle if your having mirgraines when you have your monthly i would highly suggest you consult your doctor on the matter he or she would be best to help you with your problem First of all, birth control pills do not prevent mentstrual periods, they just prevent pregnancy. So, if you take them, you will still get a period; it may be lighter than what you're used to, but you will still get one. Second, if you suffer from migraines, do not expect taking "the pill" the alleviate them. I take birth control pills and usually get a moderate to severe migraine at the beginning of each period, despite the prophylactic migraine meds that I'm taking. |
