Can anyone tell me, if eating grapefruit will interfere with using birth control pill? |
My grandaughter wants to know, and she loves grapefruit!! Not at all...there is a certain class of cholesterol lowering drugs that are less effective if you eat or drink grapefruit within 8 hours of taking them, but not BCPs. first of all birth control is wrong ur taking an innocent persons life because she wanted to have sex with someone without protection. Nope. Grapefruit interferes with cholesterol meds and a surprising variety of other drugs, but the pill is not one of them. She may eat her grapefruit with confidence. no most definitely the only tablet that grapefruit interferes with is neoral and i know that for a fact for i am on neroal no no no no no, nothing that you eat will interfear with the effectivness of the pill. ONLY smoking and not taking your pill in a timly sence will change how the pill works. good luck No...grapefruit is essentially potassium and this will not interfere with her OCPs. It is best not to take antacids before taking them, as they coat the stomach and make the pill hard to assimilate into the blood stream. yes, it's not recomendable. it's not that it will do her wrong but this fruit has some enzimes that make pill not to be effective (so why taking it at all,we wonder?). |
