I'm on birth control I just dont understand the different color pills, which are which?

Ortho-low cycle

Each week you get a different type of hormone....the last seven pills are "placebo pills"--they contain no hormone. Just take your pills in order and you will be fine. They should come with a pamphlet that tells you EXACTLY what hormones are in each color if you need to know. See the link below:

Oh and don't listen to people (like the one below me) who are rude and not helpful.

Good luck. Source(s): http://www.thepill.com/active/janus/en_u...
they start with a low amount of hormones and it gets higher. each week is a different color for the different amount of hormones and the green ones dont contain anything because that is when you are supposed to get your period. Some birth control are all the same amount of hormones thats why people can take packs continously to prevent a period. BUT we cant because of the various doses.
If you don't understand your birth control, you're probably not mature enough to be having sex. Get married first!
Usually one color is for the 21 or so days of the month when you are not having your period, and the 7 other pills are for when you are having your period. Your doctor should have explained this to you.
The different colors represent the different levels of hormone found in each pill. Then, towards the end of the month, your last 7 pills will be a certain color. These pills are just sugar pills, with no hormones in them. Taking these (or not taking them) will make you begin your period. The reason why you take these is to eliminate the possibility of getting out of the routine of taking your pills.
If you have a pack where 21 are all the same colour and seven are a different colour, then you are on a monophasic pill - all the active pills ares the same and have the same amounts of hormones. The seven that are a different colour are placebos (usually lactose - sugar). They'll bring on your period and don't have any hormones in them. With your doctor's approval these can be used like Seasonale to only have 4 periods a year.

If you have a packet that has three different colours, then you have a triphasic pill. The first and third weeks are one colour and the middle week is a different colour and has a different level of hormones for that week. The last colour is for the placebo pills. You have to take these ones in order.
