I'm about to start on birth control (the pill)but I'm still breast feeding......? |
Do you think I'll be okay to keep breast feeding or well it affect me breast milk and in turn affect my son in some way? Certain birth control pills can be harmful to your baby if you are breast feeding. Please consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding. I know there is a particular type of birth control pill you can take that has a safer level of the different hormones involved for breast feeding mums. Your practice nurse may be able to advise you as opposed to waiting for an appointment to see your doctor. Congrats on new baby!! There is a birth control pill intended for Moms who are breastfeeding. It's often referred to as the mini-pill. It is not as effective due to it's low dosage, so you may have to consider a second form of birth control. http://babyparenting.about.com/cs/breast... Taking certain birth control pills are safe during pregnancy. You OBGYN can write you a script on the safe one to take during breastfeeding. I wouldn't continue taking the one you already had before pregnancy unless you get your OB's okay. Chances are that he/she will want to give you a different one. yes it could effect baby. |
