Birth control patch vs the pill? |
I've been on the patch for almost two years now, but because of the increased amounts of hormones I've been thinking of switching to the pill. Has anyone had experience with both of these, if so which do you prefer and why? Also, has anyone experienced any serious negative side effects while on the patch? i was on different pills for 5 years. i had to keep switching because of side effects ( breakthru bleeding and excessive weight gain). then I went on depo provera, which i really liked. except i started bleeding constantly on that. then the patch. I cant even convey how much i disliked the patch. it really, really made me crazy. (bad thoughts, depression, etc) i went off the patch and 1 month later, i was completely regulated again. i just cant take hormonal contraception. here's my point: there are so many differetnt types, it is hard to say what will work for you (different combos of hormones) try it and if you dont like it , you can always go back. good luck I prefer the depo-vera shots over all of the other options. You only worry about it twice a year, and when I was getting them, they made my periods much lighter & cramps less painfull. personal experience Stay away from the patch. It has been determined that they are more dangerous than the Pill. More women have heart attacks/strokes on that than the pill. I have been using the Pill for fourteen years now. The benefits outweigh the risks and they have been helpful for my hormonal problems. |
