Would like to know if there is any other method of birth control other then IUD, the pill? |
I have high blood and am on medications but need some protections on getting pregnant...i know condoms but guys obviously would not want to use them coz they say it feel uncomfortable... as for IUD, i am not comfortable with it and i cannot take the pill.... what else should i use.... i know also about the withdrawal method but that does not guarantee me of not getting pregnant ..... please help.. Wow, don't use the withdrawl method! Very unsafe, and my best friend got pregnant, twice, using that method. Why can't you use the pill? Theres always the patch but it's the same as the pill. Look into it, it might be okay for you. As for the condoms, tell the guy TOO BAD! There are so many different kinds of condoms available, I'm sure you could find one you both like. There are alot of other types of birth control, such as depo-vera, but in my personal opinion, I'd stay away from it. You should be talking to your doctor about birth control methods, he/she knows your medical history so he/she would be able to suggest what is best for you.. but anyways, here are some options... -Diaphragms (with spermicide) -Cervical caps (with spermicide) -The mini-pill (only has one hormone (progestin) unlike regular birth control pills) -The Female Condom -The Hormonal Vaginal Contraceptive Ring (NuvaRing) -Implant (Norplant) -Vaginal Sponge Consider the pregnancy rates too... (typical percentages) -Implant (Norplant) 0.09% -Depo-Provera 0.3% -Birth Control Pill 5% -Minipill 5% -Condom 14% -Female Condom 21% -Vaginal Sponge 20% -Cervical Cap 20% -Diaphragm 20% Hope this helps! :) Tell the guy to use a condom. There is a female condom available. It is called "Reality". Reality condoms are made out of polyurethane, so people with allergies to latex can use them. Check with your local Public Health Sexual Health clinic. They may have low cost or free female condoms. The nurses at the clinic can show you how to use the female condom correctly as it takes a little getting used to. There is also the cervical cap and contraceptive foam and diaphragm and contraceptive gel. There are also polyurethane condoms for men called Avanti. Although the cap and diaphragm will protect you from pregnancy, you really MUST use some sort of barrier method (like condoms) to protect you from HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI). If your partner will not use condoms with you, he probably has not used condoms with his other partners. This puts you at a much higher risk for an STI. Your best bet is to talk with a Public Health Nurse at a Sexual Health clinic. Good Luck. Public Health Nurse in a Sexual Health Clinic. |
