Do I need to use an alternative method of birth control when I get off the pill?

I heard that you need to use other birth control for a few months till the pill clears out of your system. Is it unsafe to try to conceive right away after getting off the pill? Or is an intermediate stage recomended?

you can try to conceive immediately upon going off the pill, just know that the pill can cause it to take several months before you do conceive (or longer in some cases). Some women have conceived the very next cycle, so it differs from person to person.

As for another method of birth control - no...if you're trying to get pregnant, there's no need to have another method..you will either ovulate or won't. If you do and you become pregnant - there's no side effects to your fetus as the pill only increases hormones to stop ovulation (and if you're ovulating, you're fine). Source(s): nursing
No, it shouldn't be unsafe to conceive.
But usually you should go on prenatal vitamins for 3 months before you get serious about conceiving.
This will decrease the risk of fetus complications and neural tube defects.
I would seek out the OBGYN for that script ahead of time.
Then good luck :)
don't bang, that would solve your problems
Intermediate is the way to go. Use of a condom for 90 days is what I have been taught. Healthy children are highly possible just after your first period post-pill.
It is not unsafe to concieve right away. They just say that sometimes it is harder. I concieved within two months of getting off the pill, and my daughter is perfect. Good luck!
Withdrawal or the pull out method is my favorite.
