Today im starting my birth control and im wondering if my sinus medicine will lessen the affect of the pill? |
my medicine is amoxiclav it's for a sinus infection. It's not likely to, but you should use a backup method for the rest of the month if you want to be safe. I read on Planned Parenthood's website that only one type of antibiotic interferes with birth control: "Only one antibiotic 鈥?rifampin - is known to make the Pill less effective. Rifampin is used to treat tuberculosis. Other antibiotics do not make the pill less effective." Source(s): http://ppmd.securewwwhost.com/index.cfm?... Yes it will lessen the effectiveness of your birth control pill. If it's an antibiotic, then yes, it will. Be sure to use a back-up method of birth control this month. I like pink!! It may, Read the insert that comes with your sinus medicine. If that doesnt help call your pharmacy and ask them. I know my Riteaid pharmacy is very helpful when it comes to questions like this. |
