Do birth contro pills, particularly Deso-gyn, cause weight gain? If so, can it be controlled???


I have started taking them and I am concerned about gaining weight. Has anyone gained weight on BC pills, if so how much??

I gained over 100 lbs in a year on birth control shots.

How hormonal birth control works is that it makes your body think it's pregnant. When you're pregnant, you gain weight because that's what the fetus needs.

You can exercise extra to try to overcome it, but it's not really based on your food intake. It's something else. You'll understand if it happens to you. You feel that you're fatter and you also KNOW you aren't in control of what's happening to you. Source(s): My weight loss and exercise blog:
