Is it ok to start taking birth control pill 12 days after you start your period? |
I started my period 12 days ago, which is is of course ended. I know you are supposed to start taking the pill the Sunday after. I didn't start taking them last Sunday because I didn't want the pill to interfere with my full period. So is it ok to start taking them tomorrow, especially since I am ovulating or close to? Yes, you could start taking them now. The reason why they tell you to start the sunday after your period ends is to better align your natural cycle with the more regulated one ( by taking birth control). Taking them now could cause you to have an irregular period and I would use a second form of birth control as well, since you are close to ovulation (like a condom). You might want to call and ask your doctor's nurse about this as well. Source(s): receptionist for an OBGYN you're going to have to talk to you're doctor about this, she/he may want you to wait until you're next one and follow they're instructions. No you need to follow the directions you were given. Wait till your next period and then start them just like they told you to use them. If you can't follow the directions then you may want to consider using a different type of birth control. yes I don't know.you really need to call and ask a doctor or ask a pharmacist. It will be ok but plz don't think that just b/c u've taken one pill you don't have to worry about pregnancy. I would be on them for at least 2 weeks before you expect them to be effective enough. You can start them any day and any day of the week you want just don't forget when u started. Docs tell you to wait until the sunday after ur period so that it doesn't throw ur period off. However ur period may have gotten thrown off anyway its just less likely if u start the sunday after. Plus its suppose to help u remember to take your pill. |
