Has anyone had problems with breakthrough bleeding after years of birth control pills? |
I have been taking birth control pills for about 13 years now and have not had any problems with them up until about 8 months ago. My pharmacy gave me a generic of the ones I had been taking and I bled for about 2 months straight. I went to the doc for my yearly visit and everything was fine-no problems. The doc wrote me a new prescription and instructed the pharmacy not to ever sub my pills. So after a month of taking my regular ones everything went back to normal-that is until this past Wednesday. I started taking the active pills on Monday and on Wednesday I started having a breakthrough bleed. I called the doc yesterday and she says this just happens sometimes and if it happens next month to call her back-they may switch my pills even though I have been taking them for 13 years. Anyone else have a problem like this? It's happened to me as well. I've been on the same pills for over 10 years, and I had some breakthrough bleeding a few months ago. One month, my period lasted for 11 days, with mostly spotting on and off for a few days after that. I asked my doctor, too, and she said it just happens sometimes. As long as you continue taking the pill you're still protected from getting pregnant, so don't change the schedule you have for taking them. But really, as long as your doctor isn't worried, I wouldn't be, either. Yeah-- ive also been on birth control for about 11 years now. Just this past year I have had my period come a week early twice. And I bleed for two weeks instead of my normal few days. I thought it was weird too but my doc said all is ok. If the doc says you are good then you probably are. |
