Birth control pills question???

I have been on birth control pills for about 6 months...never missed a day. lately my sex drive has been crazy (in a good way) but i am starting to worry if having too much sex will change the pills effectiveness. I understand the 1% chance of getting pregnant, but i don't want to increase it. am I worrying too much?

The main point of the pill is to trick your body into thinking you are pregnant. The reason you don't get pregnant while on the pill is the same reason women 6 months pregnant don't suddenly have a new baby developing in there - your body releases hormones that don't allow new eggs to be used.
So basically, go crazy. You can have all the sex you want and your risk of pregnancy is no more than if you had sex once and the pill failed.
The .1% risk is mostly on the label because the manufacturers cannot legally say it is 100% effective, to avoid being sued if by chance the pill did fail someone.

Have all the fun you want, and don't worry about it. Just remember to take your pill every day at the same time!
Knock yourself out ;D Source(s): studied birth control pills for years before taking them, haha
dont worry, the pill stops your eggs from traveling down the fallopian tube, so little or bunches of sex will not change your pills effectiveness.
yes you may just be feeling free. No worries you might say.
Yes you are. Enjoy the sex and keep taking your pills. I have been on the pill for 6 YEARS and no problems. Sex is great, Pill is great. Pregnancy is not likely.
Having sex more frequently will not decrease the pill's effectiveness. It will increase the number of sperm that enter your body, unless you are using a condom. (If you aren't married, it's always a good idea to use a condom in addition to birth control, because BC doesn't protect against STDs.) And a condom further reduces your chances of an unwanted pregnancy.

Consider yourself lucky that your sex drive is up there. A lot of people lose it when they take birth control.
You are worrying too much. As聽long as you take your pill everyday and you don't take meds which can reduce its effectiveness (like antibiotics) you will not be ovulating. You cannot get pregnant unless you're ovulating so have all the sex you want. Enjoy!
