Is it safe to have sex after a week of using the birth control pill? |
I haven't started having sex without a condom or taking a birth control pill yet, but yesterday I went to the gynecologist and got Yaz birth control. I'm going to start taking it tomorrow, and he said after a week of taking it I could start having sex without a condom. I also read on the Yaz website that it would be safe to have sex after using it for a week as well. That being said, however, my friend told me that you have to wait at least two months before having sex without a condom on the birth control pill, and I've heard other people say that you have to wait a month. I don't know why my doctor would tell me a week, and other people would tell me 1-2 months? Where are the other people getting their information? nope your fine. if your taking the pill properly and at the time of the day at you should, everyday. then your fine. just make sure that your consistent with when u take the pill. good luck =] Source(s): i did the same thing..8 months ago. and im fine. no babies. ha Why not? MAYBE BABY you wait a week and they are probably getting there info. from thier head if the docter said a week then it's a week no doubt about it鈾? you have all the information you need why ask more... do you not trust your doctor or the information you have read regarding your pill? are the friends you talked to doctors to tell you that you have to wait for two months? who should you believe, a professional who knows all about the pill or a friend who bases her information on experience? Different birth controls have different waiting periods. In general, the waiting period to have sex without a back-up method after starting a hormonal birth control is one full cycle, or one month. However, with Yaz, especially if your doctor told you so, it is safe to start having sex without a back-up method after a week. This is because Yaz has a different hormone combination than other hormonal birth controls. I'm certain that for legal purposes, the Yaz website would not instruct you to start having sex without a back-up method after a week if it were not safe to do so. That being said, if you don't feel comfortable not using a back-up method for now, don't do it. If you want to wait the whole cycle, that's fine. Even if you don't even want to stop using a back-up method, that's fine. You're better safe than sorry. |
