Is there any types of medications that makes taking birth control pills less effective? ANTIBIOTICS! What ever you do.....don't go unprotected while on the pill and taking antibiotics...TRUST ME ON THIS! Source(s): #2 was a Sinus infection surprise! MD Rx'd me antibiotics for sinus infection while i was on the pill and 9 months later my daughter was born. Yes, certain antibiotics make birth control pills less effective. I'm sure there are other meds that do this too. Whenever you get a new prescription, tell your pharmacist that you're on the pill. They can tell you if any of your meds will affect your birth control pills. antibiotics, and I know for a fact that the miagraine med topamax does too.. I would do research on it to be sure. |
