Confusion and questions about Birth Control...(Reminder pills)?

Hello,

I was just wondering what exactly were reminder pills.(I know they are pills that contain no hormone)but what is their purpose? Meaning they start your periods up?
Also, if you started taking birth control eight says into your cycle, (Mine started July 7th and ended July 11) But I started the pill on July 16th...so if an egg is still there, how am I protected from pregnancy after seven days of taking it? (Especially if I did not even have my period.)
Also, because I started the pill in the middle of my cycle, does that mean that my period will not start until the white reminder pills are taken? So I get to go a month and a half without my period? Can I avoid my period if I just take the pink active pills all the time?
The brand I am using is "Yaz".
I should wait until September to make sure the egg is gone?
Thank you for your time...I am new at this. I looked it up but cannot be too sure. I just wanted people who know about this to let me know if they did not mind telling me.

The last week of pills contain no hormone, and that is why you start to bleed. You are still protected during this time, and you don't really have to take those pills. They just hold the space to keep you in the habit of taking a pill everyday.

It's ok the start the pill anyday of the month, as long as you are not pregnant. But the important thing is using condoms for 7 days after starting. The pill takes 7 days to start to work, so you need to use condoms in case you already did ovulate. The 7 days is long enough for the egg to pass through and not get fertilized.

Most women ovulate 14 days after the 1st day of the period...so you probably didn't have an egg after 8 days....and the pill wil prevent ovulation now.

You period will start during the reminder pills, and it will probable be lighter than usual.
You can avoid your period by skipping the last week, but it's not recommended to do it all the time. Give yourself at least 4 periods a year.
It is so that you do not get out of the habit of taking a pill every day at the same time.
You should always start the pills during the beginning of your period or on a Sunday. If it's a Sunday start, wait one week before being sexually active. You have no reason to worry the other way.

The last week of pills(inactive) can be skipped all together if you start a new pack right away. You'll miss your period and it's all gravy. Just skip the white pills like they werent there. And its advisable to take a pregnancy test every couple of months while using this method.
