Would you, as a christian, accept a blood donation for your child from a homosexual?

Would this bring up any kind of confliction moraly?
The condemnation of gays by the church and the idea of taking blood from such a sinner put you off at all?
If you think it is a genetic condition, and the child is at an impressionable age, would you be concerned? (people have been known to change blood type after a transfusion)

As you know any male who has had gay sex since 1977 is forbidden from donating blood (for life in the UK), even though the risk of aids is minimal and less than many sections of society.
But say your child required a blood transfusion, they told you the source, there is a 1 in 22million chance there might be a chance of catching aids, would you ask for another donor?

the blood would be screned, but the test is 1/22million inaccurate

Anybody can have a blood borne illness. There are many cases of people catching blood borne illnesses from non gay people.

As long as the blood is properly screened then it doesn't matter who the donor is. The problem is that the blood isn't always properly screened, thus the UK rule.

Its not really a matter of morality to me, only one of safery.

of course i would accept it!
christian or not, how can you put a petty rule above the life of your child?
im sure god would just love you if you did that!!

Yo, it is blood. Goodness. It have cells and is red when outside the body. Belongs to a fellow human. Seriously, if being straight is your qualification...I hope you die.

Did not the same God who created your blood create their blood too? If you're going to reject the blood of a sinner, then your blood is unfit.

I would except it, but I have no issues with homosexuals at all. I guess I'm not really seeing your arguement here, as I feel we are all equal.

Sure---all blood now is tested for any problems and anymore you have the same risks with getting blood from an obese person as a person with anger management problems---it is blood that's all.

As long as I knew that the person was AIDS/HIV negative as well as clear of any other diseases, as of that day, that hour, that the blood is taken, then yes. We're all children of God, I don't hate on people because of lifestyle choices like that, especially since in my opinion it's something that's instilled in them. They can't help it, just like I can't help it I have no attraction to chicks. And, as long as the disease check was clear, I love my little girl too much to lose her. It's that simple.

Yes. They are people, just like me and you. We sin, they sin, no one is perfect. But they're human! Sin is not passed through blood (and I'm not saying homosexuality is a sin, thats not my job to judge, I'm just say sins are not passed through blood)

Aids is a risk everywhere, even it is seems "at minimum" so their laws about no blood if you were gay before 1977 is just for protection- sometimes it takes years to know you have aids so doctors can't tell from the blood if someone is infected...

Absolutely!!!!!!!!!!!

We all sin, so accepting blood from sinners is unavoidable.
Gays are statistically more likely to carry blood borne diseases, so I would prefer not to get blood from them.

If the blood was tested for aids first, i would.

Of course I would accept it. My child's life is much more important than the giver's sexuality. How would it be a moral conflict? Homosexuals are good people, they are humans just like us with the same sinful nature. Jesus said love your neighbor, not love your neighbor only if he is the same as you or believes the same thing as you. I'm pretty sure that all blood donated before 1977 has been used. I don't really think that is an issue any more.

i worked in a lab with blood and let me tell you. once the blood is out of the body there is 100% ZERO difference between the tubes except for blood type. so that in my mind is a judgment question basically a racist one. it isnt going to harm ur childs life in any way, in fact it will save his life. and u should thank the man or woman who donated it to him. blood is made of cells that carry oxygen and other nutrients to the body. it doesnt carry sex cells to the brain saying be gay be gay be gay hahaha cummon woman. be realistic for ur sons sake. ppl are ppl when it comes to what flows in their veins.

No way! You can catch The Gay like that!

Their "alternative lifestyle" lets tiny "gay demons" into their blood, completely undetectable until it's too late and your child starts talking about how "fabulous" Judy Garland was, and listening to show tunes and using too many hair care products.

I won't let my child catch The Gay from that gay blood.

As long as the blood bank from whence it came was known to be careful in its screening process, why not? It's my child! I don't care WHO gives the blood that saves his/her life! I just thank God that they DID!

If the blood is properly screen I have no problem.

What is troubling is when the "gay" lifestyle was found out to be the spread of HIV and ask to control their behavior it was the homosexual activists who scream bloody murder ( I am not talking about those were responsible and did something)

The reason why males who had gay sex since 1977 is because of HIV.

The blood supply safety is greatly increased.

I would worry more about my child on the way to the doctor than getting a transfusion.

122 ... Are you really that stupid ? Straight people have AIDS also . They get it from prostitutes , sexually active people who don't use condoms , IV Drug use , blood tranfusions, sex with a spouse who got it , etc . There are particular groups of gay men ( The ones who never have anal sex ) and Lesbians , who have a much lower rate than the general population . Maybe you should request a transfusion from one of them .

I hope all of the people saying "no" actually have to get a blood transfusion in the future and are loaded with gay blood since there is no way to know where the blood comes from.

Even worse, I hope that all is available is gay blood and the morons choose death over gay blood. Good riddance I say.

And what is your point? I believe that homosexuality is a sin. But also is murder, stealing, lying, cheating, fornication & the other couple hundred out there. Meaning that to not accept blood from a homosexual from a moral point of view would mean that I shouldnt accept blood from a liar or from anyone who had sex outside of marriage either. In fact I shouldnt accept blood from anyone who have sinned at all.
Er...isnt that everyone in this world?

On the other hand however, accepting blood from a homosexual...definitely not something I would feel comfortable doing.

I don't think that the source of the transfusion are revealed to the person getting it, but if it were, it would not deter me from having my child get it. If it is going to save their life then I would gladly take the blood. I don't believe that homosexuality is a genetic thing. I believe it is a lifestyle choice. And who says the child has to know that the blood came from a homosexual.
Would a homosexual ask that they have a homosexual's blood instead of a heterosexual's?? Blood is blood. A child is not going to become homosexual because of whose blood they received. It's not genetic.

I would accept any blood that had been thoroughly screened, and in the US, the information of whether the donor was gay, straight, fat, slim, etc. would not be available to me. As for religious conflicts, I see none.

But in any case, my husband and I would donate to our kids first, since we have compatible types.

I would ask for another donor. It's so sad when someone has to have a blood transfusion or organ transplant and they end up suffering with AIDS. It's a completely preventable disease.

no i wouldn't...i would from a lesbian though they normaly
don't aquire AIDS unless they are intravenous drug users
or BI...which would be a contradiction since they are a lesbian.

would you take blood from an intravenoues drug user?

you'd be stupid to risk it otherwise...

No I would not. Homosexuals are in a high risk group for HIV. You can't catch sin from a blood transfusion but you can catch HIV.

I would not accept the blood of anyone who I thought could harm my child or myself in any way shape or form. I have a responsibility to protect my child. This would be a form of child abuse.

Honestly, I would be concerned about the passing of HIV/AIDS.

If there was no other choice, I would reluctantly take it, and PRAY that my child will survive.
