After blood donation...? |
I gave blood on Tuesday...it's Monday now- and I have this huge, ugly black and blue mark on my arm where they drew the blood from...I have given blood many times before and this never happened. It is normal. The bruise is the blood under the skin. The nurse could have been a little rough, or if you had taken any pain medication recently it prolongs bleeding and create a bruise at sight of need more easily. Yes every once in a while this happens. Nothing to worry about. I think you got a bad nurse, I have had the same problems, see your doc if you think it might be infected many people get bruises when they get blood drawn so yes its normal...... It has alot to do with the tech doing it...... and if your hydrated or not.... It will be fine and go away in a few days... I dont give blood, but it happens to me when I have to get it tested.... ( I have a bleeding disorder) Sometimes this happens if there wasn't enough pressure applied long enough after the needle was removed. It is nothing to worry about and will disappear over time. Congratulations on being a donor! I can't anymore because of meds. |

Put a band-aid and a small dab of antibiotic ointment on it. It should start feeling better tomorrow. There may be some bruising that should go away in about a week. The bruise may even expand. ... You can give blood to ANYONE! Persons with O blood type do do not have either A or B antigens on the surface of their RBCs, but their blood serum contains IgM anti-A antibodies and anti-B antibodie... the demand for blood right now is very high. and so are you i guess. ha ha . no i dont think they will thow it out. ...Not exacly "healthy" for the donor but its not bad either concidering you get that pint back in a month...so you win either way. ...Anybody can have a blood borne illness. There are many cases of people catching blood borne illnesses from non gay people. As long as the blood is properly screened then it doesn't matter...
