After blood donation...?

I gave blood on Tuesday...it's Monday now- and I have this huge, ugly black and blue mark on my arm where they drew the blood from...I have given blood many times before and this never happened.

Is this normal??

Thanks

It is normal. The bruise is the blood under the skin. The nurse could have been a little rough, or if you had taken any pain medication recently it prolongs bleeding and create a bruise at sight of need more easily.
Be lucky it only happened this one time. Happens to me every time I get a shot or give blood, It looks gross, but is totally harmless. Only be concerned if your arm turns red, hot or itchy and needle sight is swollen or infected.
Very nice of you to give blood.

Yes every once in a while this happens. Nothing to worry about.

I think you got a bad nurse, I have had the same problems, see your doc if you think it might be infected

many people get bruises when they get blood drawn so yes its normal...... It has alot to do with the tech doing it...... and if your hydrated or not.... It will be fine and go away in a few days... I dont give blood, but it happens to me when I have to get it tested.... ( I have a bleeding disorder)

Sometimes this happens if there wasn't enough pressure applied long enough after the needle was removed. It is nothing to worry about and will disappear over time. Congratulations on being a donor! I can't anymore because of meds.
