IMPORTANT****VERY SERIOUS question about HIV and blood donation?

i always am worried about receiving blood.
because everybody one day will need to receive blood during a surgery or ....
as you know result of hiv test after 6 months of infection is legal.
if some one who is infected to hiv, donate his blood before 6 months of infection, .....

i'm scared, too b/c my teacher's husband has HIV and he got it from donated blood!

Blood is screened for HIV and other blood borne pathogens.

When you donate blood, it goes into a bank and is distributed as needed. Do not believe that just because you donate blood that they keep it stored just for you .

You can donate blood prior to elective surgery, ususally six to eight weeks prior. Howereve, it is costly to have it stored.

Then donate for your own account, where your blood is what is put back into you.

I'm sure all blood is screened first. If you're worried, get in contact with a hospital and explain you don't want infected blood

good question..
i dont know how or if they would test the blood after it had been donated...
but if it is a life and death situation and they needed blood.. the person should at least live a little bit longer... even if it is with infected blood.. dont you think?

they test all blood... I think they can detect within that time frame... if you know you are having surgery... you can have friends and family and even you yourself can bank blood for your own surgery.
