What can the donation of blood do to a fetus that is less than a month along?

I suspect I may have gotten pregnant this past weekend. I dont know for sure and I wont know for about 2 more weeks when my period is due. However next week there is a blood drive at my school which I have faithfully donated to since I came of age. I think it is a noble cause and I never skip out. Yet if it turns out that I am pregnant I dont want to do anything to hurt the child. I know that there are warnings against pregnant women donating, yet since it is not confirmed and the fetus would be barely a few weeks along, would it have damaging effects? Is it worth risking to donate blood that could save up to three lives? Information is much needed, thank you.

I cant find out whether I am pregnant or not until atleast the 21st. As I said I only just had sex this past weekend on the 5th. There was an accident and I think its possible that I got pregnant because I know that it was the time I was ovulating. The fetus would probably not even be implanted yet, but by next week it probably would be. So technicaly I guess it would only be a few days along. Yet since I dont know, I dont want to skip out on the donation because I know how valuable it is to the lives of others to donate my perfectly healthy blood.

I understand that you want to donate at the blood drive, but you have to tell them that you could be pregnant. I am a faithful blood donor too. If you find out in a few weeks that you are not pregnant, you can go to a local center for Red Cross or Lifeblood-or whoever your local donor agency is. You can look on the website for your next local drive. Some centers are open every day and you can schedule an appointment once it is confirmed that you are not pregnant.
If you are pregant congrats! I am pregnant about 6 1/2 wks now. I had a donation appt scheduled for a few weeks from now from before I got PG and there is no question about me trying to go do that even if I was just found out pregnant. So I know how you feel. You really just should not take the risk. Good Luck!

OK LOOK, YOU OBVIOUSLY ARENT THINKING OF THE WELL BEING OF YOUR BABY IF YOU ARE INDEED PREGNANT. YOU ARE BEING SELFISH IF YOU WANT TO DONATE BLOOD. YOUR BABY NEEDS THAT BLOOD (THATS IF YOU ARE PREGNANT) IF YOU CANNOT FIND OUT UNTIL THE 21ST THEN YOU SHOULDNT BE DONATING BLOOD IN THE FIRST PLACE. YOU SHOULD WAIT, TAKE A TEST AND FIND OUT FOR SURE. IF YOU ARE PREGNANT THEN YOU CANNOT DONATE BLOOD. if you do donate blood, and you are pregnant, you are taking it away from your child... which in the end could end your pregnancy...

do not donate if you think you are pregnant, your body needs all the blood it has. I'm anemic and can't donate blood, but i think what you have done is really great, but dont donate if you suspect pregnancy, there is always the blood bank you can go to later on if you find out you are not pregnant

nothing it's heart hasn't even started beating yet, and it may have not even inplanted yet. The baby would be fine!

If you're pregnant, you can't donate the blood. The blood won't be usable to the recepients and you will deprive your body of the blood it needs during the pregnancy. You will increase your blood volume by 50% during your pregnancy and your body needs all of it.

I think you should confirm your pregnancy before you risk it to donate.

You aren't supposed to donate because it could drain you enough to make you pass out, and it can also strain your baby. My sister donated and passed out for awhile and then she found out afew days later she was pregnant. The babys heart rate was not to good but she turned out to be a healthy baby though. Just be safe, if you do the blood donation try not to over do it. If you feel funny while it is being done you may have to stop.

I don't think its worth the risk. You should contact your doctor and get them to first find out if you are pregnant or not, and then ask them if its okay to donate blood.
I think if you are aware of something and have concerns you shouldn't donate your blood until you have more information.
Also even if you are just a few weeks along that is the MOST critical period in the baby's development.

It wouldn't be a good idea to donate blood if you suspect you are pregnant. You body produces more blood, while pregnant, because it is needed. Also your body produces the HCG hormone, and they probably won't be able to use you blood once it is tested and they find out.

It is a noble thing to do. But wait until the next blood drive if you aren't pregnant. And if you are just wait until after you have the baby, and your doctor gives you the okay to donate.

The best you can do is talk in private with one of the members there, and ask them if they think it's a good idea for you to donate or not.

You are not allowed to donate blood if you're pregnant or have been pregnant within six weeks of the donation date. The donation center is normally legally required to ask you that question and to disqualify you from donating if you are pregnant.

It's wonderful to be a blood donor, but during pregnancy, your body is busy devoting its resources to your developing baby, including creating more blood to support both of you as it grows. Even during very early pregnancy, it's wise to be cautious and avoid extra medical procedures, even a kind gift of a blood donation!

Blood drive! you would be fine.
at the blood drive your iron will be checked if its high enough then you can donate if its low you cant.
