Why must there be blood donations ?

So here's my question: Why are people allowed to donate Blood for free, but it's illegal to sell their blood ?
For example: It's legal to donate part of your liver for free, but it's illegal to sell part of your liver for money??

I mean Why is it illegal to sell your organ or blood for money, but it's not illegal to donate it ??
What's up with that ??
I mean if you're willing to give out part of your internal organ or blood for another person to use. I think people should be compensated for that. Don't you ??

The reason is that the price of the part would go up to such a price that only the rich could afford and get transplants. The poor and mid-income patients would eventually die. Also there was a claim that people might kill their mate or child so they could sell the parts.
BTW, blood is sometimes paid for, Sometimes the poor or drunk will sell their blood for a small amount of cash. The idea here is that your body soon replaces it. It was part of the cause of the spread of HIV infection when drug addicts infected from shared needles would give blood every day for drug money.

I agree, you should be compensated for your bodily donations...and in fact you can sell your blood! Actually it's a part of your blood called plasma, and you can get paid between $30 and $80 usually per donation! I started selling plasma when I was back in school for cash and now donate whole blood regularly.

Two reasons that I see for this. Organs sold to the highest bidder would greatly hurt the poorer folks waiting for organs. Like prostitution, the poor and the desperate would end up donating organs, perhaps against their own best interests, to make quick money.

nah. they dont have to do it. its selfish if you want money. some people may die if they dont have an organ or any blood. its just a very nice feeling, knowing you've saved someones life.

i wouldnt want any money for saving someones life.

Because ignorant people could be killed when they foolishly sell their vital organs. This practice would also justify prostitution. If I can buy a liver or lung, what's wrong with renting a vagina temporarily?
