Worried about recent blood donation - put my mind at ease? |
I donated blood yesterday (my third time) and everything was fine, but today my arm has been aching, not at the puncture site but all throughout my forearm, like circulation is bad, and it occasionally feels cold. I also feel a little sick (no fever, just some sneezing and scratchy throat), and I've got a painful little bump in my armpit (that same arm - I don't think it's the glands, it feels like it's just under the skin). The blood donation looked all safe, but I'm a bit of a hypochondriac and the internet scared me good, so what are the actual odds that I might have gotten something? I usually just feel a little bit off after donating, and this is only the day after, I know. Is it all just be a big unfortunate coincidence? Also, the tourniquet during the blood donation and the bandage afterward seemed very tight, and I kept the bandage on for the full six hours. Could that have caused some sort of damage to the vein? You said it yourself... you worry too much. The only thing you need to worry about is if the needle was dirty and that isn't going to happen. Suggestion. Go pour a strong drink and watch a funny movie. |
