Slow/Stopped blood flow during blood donation?

I had a blood donation today. Well, I tried to. When the nurse put the neddle in my arm the blood was very slow moving down the tube. And then it stopped and they said I was done. I never got to even get the blood all the way down the tube! Why is that???

When they took the nedle out it bled a lot!?!?!

Last time I was at the doctor they drew blood and they had the same problem!?!?

It there something wrong with me or my heart???

I doubt it.

If there was anything wrong with you, i am sure that the nurse would have noticed and mentioned it to you.

If you are that concerned about it, then bring it up with her next time she draws blood.

I think your problem is your fragile vein. As i can figure it out, your vein is small, once the needle is inserted, it cant stay long enough. the result low flow of blood and it just stopped. on the other way around, because your vein is small, the needle might not able to hit the vein center. Im working in the laboratory.

I had that kind of problem before. My guess is that either they have missed the vein or that you have very small veins. I recommend using the other arm next time or see a doctor if it concerns you.
