Really, is blood transfusion good for christians?, and what does the bibles advice about it? |
The bible said we should not eat blood, personnally i think that, tranfussion is another mode of eating on the flesh: As we have another mode of feeding call Intra-veinous feeding. Acts 15:19-21,28 is the Scripture Jehovah's Witnesses typically point to as the reason they refuse to accept blood donations. Acts 15:20 says, "Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood." It is clear from the context that the instructions were against eating / drinking blood, not blood transfusions. Blood transfusions were not even possible in Bible times, so there is no possibility that this Scripture could be referring to blood transfusions. There were many pagan religious practices that involved eating and drinking blood and/or strangling an animal to keep more of its blood in its meat. This is what the Bible speaks against, not blood transfusions. I don't follow that line of thinking, but if it's what you believe in, then no one is going to force you to take or give blood. Doesn't sound like a question to me. It sounds like a statement. I had a blood disease in 1997, and without the transfusion I got, I'd be dead right now. I am sure in the bible they didn't know about intravenous feeding. Food is what goes through your mouth. when they talked of eating "blood" in the bible they were talking Obviously, since the Bible was written at a time when organ donation / donating blood was impossible, the Bible does not directly address this question. Since the Bible does not specifically say, I believe that a decision of this nature can only be made between a person, their family, and God. A person should prayerfully consider what God would have them to do in regards to donating their organs upon death (James 1:5; Philippians 4:6-7), or donating their blood to help others. If you feel led to donate your organs or give blood, then there is no reason you should not. If you do not feel led to give blood or donate your organs, you should not feel guilty about it and you should not allow yourself to be coerced. No, transfusion and eating flesh with blood are two different things. Bible does not providce any advise against bl;ood transfusion. ~.^ No. A blood transfusion is in no way comparable to "eating on the flesh". A transfusion is a medical procedure necessary to save lives in the case of extreme blood loss, irregardless of religion. That is talking about the blood of animals. That is where JW's have got it completely wrong. God has given us Blood Transfusions as another way of healing. THere is nothing wrong with them. The Bible also advises to treat the earth well and yet I bet money that you drive, throw garbage out indiscriminately, and eat food flown in from all over the world. well if God didn't want us to have transfusions he would not have let the skill become available ! That was in the Old Testament wasn't it? Called the "old law". So, you should realize that Jesus said he intended to replace the old Jewish Law. What He meant is that He was starting something that was meant to be more important than laws in what we call the Old Testament. So, as a Christian, you have nothing to worry about as far as the blood thing goes. There are some Christians that like to quote Old Testament law to make a case but to be honest, it shouldn't be as relative as anything in the New Testament. Besides, eating blood and a blood transfusion are completely different. It would be a bad idea to eat blood, unless maybe you ate it from a transfusion bag... nice and clean. No don't do that either. How about genetically engineered Easter Lillie's to open at Easter time. Not only that but you shouldn't even eat meat according to this theory! You need serious therapy. The Bible doesn't say anything about modern surgery, but gives us guidelines for moral behavior. Blood transplants have saved countless lives and we should thank God for that technology that gives us safe transfusions. The eating of blood has to do with pagan sacrifices and is also a health concern when people come in contact with blood-born diseases. Modern hospital transfusions are a different matter. It isn't the same as eating blood at all, from a medical standpoint. If you ate blood, it would go through the normal digestive processes. It would end up as nutrients in your bloodstream, just as other food does, but it wouldn't enter your bloodstream as blood. So blood transfusions are really equivalent to a tissue or organ transplant, not to intravenous feeding. Just use your common sense. Why did a supposedly all knowing God not inspire the biblical authors to say" wait till you understand more about blood," instead what was written? Why does the same God not ensure that modern knowledge is given the thumbs up? Or could it just be that all this Biblical nonsense is simply that? Lets think about why someone would have eaten blood.(We have to take it literally...there wasn't blood transfusion in biblical days.) i think thats really intresting..i also wonder that. i want to give blood but then i think if god really intended to give blood he would have made something on our body for it. |
