Can a massive blood transfusion change a persons personality? |
My husband had a massive blood transfusion done several years ago, and ever since he has now more allergies and his personality has been completely changed to the point that I don't know him anymore. Please help Nope, a transfusion just provides blood for the immediate use. It all gets replaced by your own personal made blood within a few weeks for the red blood cells and a few months for the white cells. Inside about 4-6 months, everything floating around inside is all yours. The injury or disease that required the transfusion might have an adverse mental effect on the person, but not the blood. Allergies can develop at any age, so that's not at all related. The personality conflict could be due to lots of reasons, stress, or life changes most likely- or things in the relationship may have altered. I'd say you sound like good candidates for marriage counselling, if that is an option. I don't know what the dynamic is going on here, but it's not related to the blood transfusion.
