I am pregnant and my hemoglobin is constantly going down. Its 6.8 now. Can I manage without blood transfusion? |
I am in 5th month of pregnancy. My hemoglobin started at 8.2 but has dropped to 6.8 now despite taking iron supplements. Test reports show that iron content in my blood is okay but hemoglobin is lowering. Doctors have suggested blood transfusion. I want to avoid transfusion untill delivery since there are associated risks which I dont want my baby to be exposed to. Please suggest how can I avoid transfusion without affecting my baby. Start taking wheatgrass juice daily..it sucks, but the composition of the chlorophyll is almost identical to that of hemoglobin..Take it fresh, not in pill form I have severe anemia too. My doctors didn't allow me to get under 9.0 though because I would need a blood transfusion. I don't understand why they let you get this low in the first place... There ARE treatments you can get to help this. At 6.8 I don't understand how you are typing or even awake... Either you have a low hemoglobin and need iron supplementation (which is common during pregnancy) or you may have a seizure disorder ("Petite mal") which can give you spells such as you described. I would definitely call your obstetrician and describe what occurred, get a blood test to see if you are anemic, and make sure that you take your vitamins and iron supplement (at bedtime is the best time to take iron). If this persists, a full evaluation must be made by your doctor. The same happened to me, my doctor gave me iron shots (every two days during a month) and a special diet (including lots of green vegetables and red meat), by the 8th month I was OK. I also have the problem of anemia... I was on iron pills for 3 months and now I m feeling better....But still I take intake of iron contained food like dates, Nachani satv powder(You can get it at any grocery shop, and its good during pregnancy), Guava juice, orange, lentils etc. quit taking the iron pills and eat iron rich foods..it absorbs much better then the pills hey hemoglobin is very important for pregnant person for healthy delivery n for health son.it must in between 9 to 11.pls tak fruits as u can daily.this is only way to recover.not only for u n for ur son also. Best advice i have here is too increase your fruit intake as much as possible! |
