How long do you have between the loss of 4 pints of blood to getting a transfusion.? |
my mother was throwing up blood yesterday and could not get out of bed today so had to be taken to hospital...she lost 4 pints of blood. Is this really serious. what could make you throw up that much blood from throwing up only twice.... considering that u only have 6 pints of blood in your body u might be lucky if u live another 30 mins to get the transfusion. 1.) cancer I am an RN and most people who throw up blood have bleeding ulcers, but it could be from anything. The ER would have transfused her if her counts fell below a certain magic number. This is why you should encourage people to donate blood. |
