Needed Blood Transfusion Not Sure Whats Wrong Now?

A couple of months ago I had a nail put in my femur and about 3 days after the surgery my Hb levels got really low. Cant remember the exact number. I couldnt walk and just slept until they have me 2 units of blood. I looked terrible. Anyway i went home and ever since I have been feeling really unwell. I went to see a new doctor the other day cos I have lost my appetite and can only manage to eat 1 meal a day and he took blood and checked the lumps on my neck. (5 months before all this happened I noticed swollen glands and my old doc said not to worry. My ESR was raised but he wasnt worried) The doctor called me yesterday and wants me to come in and discuss my results. I am worried its gonna be something serious.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before. I am 25 years old and have had multiple surgeries before that were bigger than my last op and never had a problem.

You may be experiencing a rejection of, or allergic reaction to the blood they gave you. Don't worry too much, it's better to know than to worry.

as far as the sed rate test goes (the ESR) that test is not really significant for anything to be honest, it doesn't point in any direction as to what is wrong with a person... don't worry about the sed rate, and swelling of lymph nodes is usually caused be an infection somewhere in the body.
it would not be because of the blood products they gave you, that would have had an immediate effect, not lingering two months later

You have some serious health issues and should keep a medical journal for yourself and for future doctors to help with your conditions better. When you have any kind of symtoms or medical visits you write them down in this journal. That way YOU can keep track of what is happening with your health.

you could just have an infection but im going to be honest with you when a doctor says something like that its not usually good news BUT do not expect the worse as it might just be something that needs sorted asap, i hope it isnt anything serious please will you let us know what he says i will be thinking of you. im haveing all sorts of respritory infections,i cant cough or my left lung gets all hard and the more i cough the worse it get but its like coughing fits so i cant make it stop, i have swollen glands , swollen legs and feet, ive been going to the docs twice a week for bloods and checkups ,they tried 5 times to get blood last time! i know something is really wrong im in agoney. not only that but my sciatic nerve is trapped and my back hip and leg are on fire with pain. im falling apart! anyways if you get a chance will ya let us know how ya get on , takecare xox
